At 1:11pm I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl who we named
Adelynn Louise Vilt.
Delivery was better than everyone said it was going to be. Don't get me wrong, there are some people who go thru H-E-double hockey sticks to have a baby, but that is not how mine played out. Thank heavens!
Sunday night at 9pm I was induced. By 2am I was almost 4 centimeters dilated and man was I in pain when they checked me! Edd said I almost broke his fingers because I squeezed them so tight! The nurses called my doctor Tammy Chan to see if they could go ahead and give me the epideral because I was hurting so bad when they checked me. She gave it a go! So at 3am I recieved the epideral...such a life saver! I was able to get some sleep after that and so did Edd :) He liked the epideral as much as I did! At 11am I was 10 centimeters! yeah! Then the nurse told me that my doctor likes to "Labor Down." Which means hunker down for another hour and breathe through the contractions :) At 12:15 I started pushing. Crazy crazy crazy. Edd was such a great cheerleader! I have no idea what I would have done without him. He helped me out so much! At 1:11pm Addie was born! The first thing I said was "Eddie she has your nose!" Adelynn looks nothing like me, she is all Edd.
After labor I was able to eat! Ahhh food! I had been eating ice chips and popcicles for the past day and was ready for food!
Then came the visitors! Mom and Dad were the first to come and see us. My mom cried when we told her the name. Louise is actually her middle name and her mom's middle name (Grandma Hornak). I was super excited to tell her because we had kept the name a secret from everyone! And if you know me, you know that it is super hard for me to keep a secret!
My mom stayed with us for about three weeks which was amazing because we totally needed some extra help. Edd took the first week off and took over morning feedings, diaper changes, etc...what a relief!
I had a little bit of an issue breastfeeding at the hospital. Addie almost ripped my nipple off...yes, even the latation consultation thought it was bad. I had planned on pumping and feeding her through a bottle anyway, so it works out for the both of us. I did recieve some hucklebuck from the latation lady, but my mom kept tell me "Do whatever works for you and the baby," and that is what I did. Come to find out, I produce a TON and I mean a TON of milk. (In the blogs to come you will see the milk!)
