life as we know it: Kelley's Island

Edd's grandparents live up on Kelley's Island in the summer (Florida in the winter) and we love to get up there and see them and everyone else we know on the Island. We invited Kristen (Edd's sister) to go up with us and Mike & Lauren were meeting us as well. Grandma and Grandpa have not seen Adelynn yet so I was super excited to see their reaction to her. Addie is one of two grandchildren (I think)!

Edd and his brothers worked up on Kelley's Island during the summers when they were growing up so they know a lot of people up on the island. This is also where Mike met his wife Lauren. They all worked at the Caddy Shack (pizza place) together! If you are up on Kelley's Island stop at the Caddy Shack! (Lauren's Uncle Tom and Aunt Megan used to own it!)

I love being up at the lake! We used to camp on the main land at East Harbor State Park each year growing up. I can't wait to introduce camping to Addie!

As we were planning our weekend, I was chatting with Edd about the logistics of everything. Little did I know, he was planning on walking over and not taking our car over on the ferry boat. Grandma's house is a little less than a mile away from the dock so it's not that bad of a hike. We have done this many times before...but not with a baby :). We had also planned to spend the night at his gma's house, which we have never done before. We have stayed with Lauren's Aunt and Uncle before but not at gmas. The only thing I was nervous about was Addie possibly waking them up at night! We voiced our concerns before we made our decision but grandma let us know she is up a lot at night anyway so we shouldn't worry!

Below are some pictures of us on the ferry ride! I love Lake Erie! I could have hopped in the water! (I actually hate the ocean but for some reason I love Lake Erie and have no fear about the water)

We tackled the challenge of walking over. I carried Addie in her hotsling and we piled everything in the stroller. It was not as bad as what I thought! Since we didn't drive over, we saved some money but we did not get to take the "G-tour" which is a drive around the Island that Edd's dad does every time they are up there. It's a fun tradition!

Grandma & Grandpa were so cute with Addie. Grandma sang her lullabies and she slept most of the time they held her! Uncle Dan loved her and couldn't get enough!
